We all have at least one. You know it! The song that you hear on the car radio, that makes you instantly reach for the volume knob. The kind of song that stops you in your tracks wherever you are. “I LOVE THIS SONG!” The rhythm just makes you want to wiggle in your seat and tap your feet. You might bust out an air guitar, bang an imaginary drum solo, or sing into your fist like the microphone you deserve.

How is it that music has such power over us, to make us want to instantly start moving? Even a powerful love ballad can have you rocking back and forth, lighter in hand. Music and movement are so powerful.
I love this time of year, with outdoor farmers’ markets and live music. It’s so much fun to see kids without reservation just get up and boogie. Even if it’s music they’ve never heard before, they just let their bodies take over. This week let’s allow ourselves the freedom to get groovin’ and get movin’ with no judgment.
So, what’s in it for you?

Social Connection: Find a class to take with a friend or partner, rope your kids or grandkids into an impromptu dance party or find a local concert to enjoy.
Rewire Your Brain: That’s right, you’re generating new neural pathways! Dance is proving to be an effective treatment for those suffering from Parkinson’s. How cool is that!?
Mood Booster: Have you ever finished dancing and not smiled? We dare you not to enjoy yourselves. (Insert sarcasm here.)
Cardio Charisma: There’s a reason Zumba is so popular. If you really get moving, you’ll have that heart rate up in no time.
No Skill Necessary: If a toddler can do the hokey pokey, so can you! Wiggles require no professional training whatsoever. Just don’t break yourself break dancing please.

Gentle Movement: Do what feels best for your body. Slow, gentle movements will help you improve your balance and still get your muscles moving.
“Dance is the heartbeat of joy; let it pulse through your veins.” – Unknown
We hope to see you dancing down The PATH Ahead.
